So I got bsw 11 speaker "upgrade" a few months ago and was happy with them. They removed 3 of tweeters so only 4 were left which for me fixed the ear piercing highs in stock trim. I realized now I perceived liking them because I finally didn't hurt my ears listening. However as I've researched more, installed an amp and better sub/,mid woofers, I started looking into putting the Dirac stuffback.
I rresearched Eton who makes Dirac stuff as well as speakers in the B&O systems. I had no idea these are top of the line competition speaker designs that made several high end competition speakers like the first gen diamonds which are famous. They use a special kevlar. And another softer layer into what the call hexacone. The more I read the more impressed I was. Bmw truly went all out and 1900 for this system is a steal for 16 Eton speakers.
Anyway I disabled the tweeters in rear shelf and with amped mid woofers, the system is no longer too harsh. But its clarity is ridiculously good and 10 times better than bsw
.I'm a bit upset bsw markets these as an upgrade as they use cheap material, old and huge magnets vs Eton neodyme small magnets. Bsw weighs twice as much. The cone is a very basic material and frankly they are not in same league.
Its my fault for not researching. They market them as designed for each system but all bsw speakers are the same from hifi to Dirac.
My point of this is those who want a PNP option and also want competition quality, go with OEM Dirac speakers. They have a nice front crossover as well. May people review Eton stuff over the years and do better than many if not all top brands.
Frankly I'm shocked BMW went with some of the most expensive speakers on the market and you logic 7 guys really should take advantage of PNP upgrade that is 10 times better than bsw
