Help with front carbon

Hey guys,

Im taking delivery of my m235 monday at the performance center and after my months of lurking on the forums, I can't seem to find a front splitter or diffuser that I like. I don't like any of the OEM BMW parts because they're not carbon fiber and my car is BSM, so the combination is a little weird. Can you guys recommend anything good? Exotic tuning is a little expensive and everything else is kind of weird with fitment.

N55 JB Stage 1

Anyone get a JB stage 1 for N55 F22? I am considering one and want to know how it drives compared to stock

Word of caution...

If you are buying used camera equipment, be sure to check it out completely before you hand over the money. I bought a second Canon 1D MKIV several months ago, the body was in great shape with low shutter count. I shot some pics and they looked fine on the display, but once I got to using it I found that some of the pics had lines across the photos. It's now at Canon pro services and they say that the sensor is bad. It is going to cost 1500.00 to replace it. Just be aware that just because it looks good, sounds good, doesn't make it good. I paid good money for this body, it was not a bargain basement deal.

I have another MKIV that has twice as many clicks that runs great, so low clicks doesn't mean anything.

The Epic TV Show That is 'EMPIRE' and Why It Has Changed The Game!

What an "absolutely fantastic" TV show! I don't use those words often at all. Especially with regard to 'Network TV'. There are only a couple of shows on Network TV that I even watch and none of them are Dramas or even close in scope to EMPIRE. This show is simply put: Raw and Engaging! It touches on subject matter that ANY demographic can relate to and has characters that are: strong, emotional, fun, serious, and believable. Major kudos to FOX (of all networks) for hitting a home run with this. Fox requested a Second Season after only the first episode was televised due to it's astonishing ratings! I expect the other networks were completely caught off guard and will attempt to emulate this show and it's success very soon...

TPMS Malfunction

So I got 17" BBS SR rims and had snow tires put on them. I reused old TPMS sensors from the snow tires that were on my 135.



I drove around today and everything was fine until I got on the highway Nd began accelerating. When I got to 50 or so all these warnings started appearing "TPMS malfunction". The damn thing wouldn't telling WHICH tire had the malfunctioning sensor though. I stopped the car, restarted it, drove around a little and the error would not go away. I tried resetting the TPMS but it got stuck in resetting mode and won't actually reset now.



Am I going to have to get all four tires mounted and balanced again when they remove them to look for the faulty sensor? Is this problem typical? Could it be as simple as a dead TPMS battery? The sensors are probably 6 years old.



Honestly, I was happier before cars had TPMS sensors. They don't seem to serve any purpose other than cost way more than they should and break for no reason.

Ship tracking (for dummies)

For those of you who are new to ship tracking, I thought I'd put together a dummies tutorial, since I've finally kinda gotten the hang of it. More advanced trackers - please feel free to add info that you think is missing or correct what you feel is wrong.



First off, BMW primarily uses a company called Wallenius Wilhelmsen (aka WW), and the WW website provides good basic info like schedules and even cargo tracking by ID. This is a good starting point once you know your car has been assigned to a WW ship.



But, BMW also uses other companies like KLine (or "NYKLine"), whose website is not as informative as the WW website, but still gives you enough to get started.



1 - Get the ship assignment info from either BMW customer relations (1-800 number in North America) or your sales/client advisor. Get the shipping company, VIN number of your car, and vessel name. They will also give you a projected ETA at your local port.



2 - If you're on a WW ship, I believe you can verify that your car is onboard by entering the VIN number as the cargo ID, on the WW website. NYKLine, to my knowledge, does not have this capability online. Note that it may take a day or two once the ship has set sail, for the system to actually show that your car is onboard. You don't need this step (you can trust BMW customer relations when they say your car is on this ship), but for extra peace of mind, this is good to do.



3 - Given the assignment info from BMW, get the ship's schedule (usually a PDF file) from the shipping company's website. This will tell you all the stops your ship will make, and a more accurate ETA at your local port. Note that if the ship gets ahead of schedule, this PDF can be updated over time. My ship is currently one day ahead of schedule. Check for updates.



4 - When the ship is close to land, you will be able to track it (presumably by radar ???) on http://ift.tt/rtbMN8. Go there and enter your ship's name to get tracking info.



5 - When your ship is away from land, satellite tracking is the only option. This requires that you either sign up for a free trial (or pay, which you won't do) of a satellite tracking account . I use and recommend the site http://ift.tt/1oU4ree. Note that there are many types of accounts on this site, so make sure it's the satellite tracking account. They provide detailed current and historical information. Note - the free trials last only a week, I think. Just create new accounts every week :D



6 - If your ship does a crossing from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean, e.g. for US West coast deliveries, it will go through the Panama canal. The Panama canal has live webcams available here: http://ift.tt/1vGmEvS, so you can see your ship up close. The ship will go through a series of "locks" (basically, some sort of raised platform, I think). The webcam that gives you the closest view of the ship is the one at the Miraflores locks. This is close to the Pacific end of the canal.



I have written a simple program to poll the webcam every 30 seconds (which is how often the image gets updated), so I can capture a poor man's video of my ship going through part of the canal. If you're interested in this, lemme know, and I can try to help you with this.

No doubt the 2 has the potential to be a more engaging car. However, it seems that the 235 is will still be fun car plus its $10-15k cheaper and available NOW. I would still have another year to wait for the M2 and that might still be at MSRP (I would like to plan an ED).

Received confirmation from the SC PC for March 18th. Travel arrangement made and excitement is building. My 235 is waiting for me in SC. Only 18 more days and a wake up and I'll finally take possession. It seem like ages ago since I test drove the 235 for about an hour I can't recall what it even drove like. Going from a FWD VW GTI to RWD is going to be interesting.

2015 DTM Season: Spring Fever!

The 2015 DTM season is almost upon us and will be some of the best touring car racing on the planet! If you're like me, you are super excited to get the DTM rolling once more. CBS Sports Network to Exclusively Air Top Motorsports Events Including



Pirelli World Challenge, DTM Racing Series and MotoAmerica





CBS Sports Network’s 2015 Torque.TV motorsports event programming schedule features some of the best international and domestic two- and four-wheel racing action from North America and around the world. The schedule debuts on Saturday, March 14 with the Pirelli World Challenge from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.





Throughout the year, CBS Sports Network will feature more than 130 hours of Torque.TV programming. RS5 DTM TO BE UNVEILED



The first new Audi RS 5 DTM, sporting the 2015 livery, will be unveiled by on March 19. The subsequent official DTM tests at Estoril, Portugal (March 25-27) will see the Green, Molina, Rockenfeller and Tambay on track. The tests at Oschersleben, Germany from April 14-16, will see the RS 5 DTM cars of Ekstrom, Mortara, Müller and Scheider on track.



For the first time, teams are assembling the eight race cars for the 2015 season based on the 2014 monocoque and components at the new Competence Center Motorsport in Neuburg. It takes two weeks to complete an RS 5 DTM consisting of 4000 parts. Following the tests at Estoril and Oschersleben, teams will prepare cars in Kempten, Meuspath and Neustadt for the season opener at Hockenheim.

From 30th April to 03rd May, DTM is going flat out, for the motor-racing enthusiasts, by providing them a very special event as season opener. The race meeting at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg will not only represent the debut of the new racing format for the 2015 season, featuring two championship rounds per race weekend but in addition, the DTM support programme also will comprise another spectacular highlight: a championship round of the spectacular race series ‘FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy’ (World RX). Following successful negotiations between WRX promoter IMG and DTM rights holder and promoter ITR, the FIA World Motor Sport Council opted for adding the Hockenheim DTM meeting to the World Rallycross Championship calendar.

2015 DTM Season: Spring Fever!

The 2015 DTM season is almost upon us and will be some of the best touring car racing on the planet! If you're like me, you are super excited to get the DTM rolling once more. First up will be the last testing at Estoril on March 25th - 29th

"The official teams of Audi, BMW and Mercedes that will participate in April the first race of the DTM championship in Hockenheim, Germany, are since the beginning of this week testing at the Estoril Circuit.



Estoril was chosen because it is the circuit that provides to technicians and engineers the best feed back for immediate evaluation and more accurate responses to the demanding conditions to which the cars are subjected.



A total of 250 people, including pilots, engineers, technicians, support teams will be this month in Estoril in a series of tests that mark the debut of the BMW in direct confrontation with the Audi and Mercedes, old DTM fighters.



Access to the Estoril Circuit is closed to the public by enforcement of trademarks.

CBS Sports Network to Exclusively Air Top Motorsports Events Including



Pirelli World Challenge, DTM Racing Series and MotoAmerica





CBS Sports Network’s 2015 Torque.TV motorsports event programming schedule features some of the best international and domestic two- and four-wheel racing action from North America and around the world. The schedule debuts on Saturday, March 14 with the Pirelli World Challenge from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.





Throughout the year, CBS Sports Network will feature more than 130 hours of Torque.TV programming. Series featured include the Pirelli World Challenge; British Touring Car Championship; DTM Racing Series; Blancpain GT Championship; MotoAmerica; V8 Supercars; Bike Road Racing Series; SKUSA Superkarts; North American Endurocross; and Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix.





The Torque.TV schedule adds to CBS Sports Network’s already robust lineup of motorsports programming, which includes almost 400 hours of coverage throughout the year.

RS5 DTM TO BE UNVEILED



The first new Audi RS 5 DTM, sporting the 2015 livery, will be unveiled by on March 19. The subsequent official DTM tests at Estoril, Portugal (March 25-27) will see the Green, Molina, Rockenfeller and Tambay on track. The tests at Oschersleben, Germany from April 14-16, will see the RS 5 DTM cars of Ekstrom, Mortara, Müller and Scheider on track.



For the first time, teams are assembling the eight race cars for the 2015 season based on the 2014 monocoque and components at the new Competence Center Motorsport in Neuburg. It takes two weeks to complete an RS 5 DTM consisting of 4000 parts. Following the tests at Estoril and Oschersleben, teams will prepare cars in Kempten, Meuspath and Neustadt for the season opener at Hockenheim.

Clunk noise

Anyone else hear a semi-loud clunk after starting the car for a minute and after shutting off the engine? I can try to record a clip if this isn't normal. Btw, I have the adaptive headlights, don't know if that's the cause of it.

Adaptive Headlights on new Convertible

BMW have loaned me a new 3 series with adaptive headlights before I add them to my convertible order.



I went out tonight to try these out on a country road which had many up and down undulating parts and found dark spots on the crest of up hill parts and bottoms on the dips it was not great at all. The lights would move down when I drove just over the top or bottom of these dips in the road. Has any other found this as I will not be adding this option.

Apparently it has something to do with the cones in our retinas adjusting to different colors/shades. I personally see it as black and blue, while my dad and a friend of mine see it as gold and white. Curious as to what colors you guys see?

Question: I have a stock exhaust, want to buy the M Perf Exhaust at low price online and have it installed. I don't know the install process, but I would hire a indy shop to do it for me. But how easy is it to revert to stock exhaust at lease turn in? does this install do any permanent cutting to the existing parts of the car? I just don't want to be charged for any mod's/damage to the car at lease turn-in

I bought a second Canon 1D MKIV several months ago, the body was in great shape with low shutter count. I shot some pics and they looked fine on the display, but once I got to using it I found that some of the pics had lines across the photos. It's now at Canon pro services and they say that the sensor is bad. It is going to cost 1500.00 to replace it. Just be aware that just because it looks good, sounds good, doesn't make it good. I paid good money for this body, it was not a bargain basement deal.

I have another MKIV that has twice as many clicks that runs great, so low clicks doesn't mean anything.

I was wondering if anyone could comment on their experience owning a 2 series (or other BMW) with non-power seats. I have a golf with non-power seats and they are incredibly easy to adjust. I saw one video on youtube of a car salesman trying to adjust the manual seats on a 2 series and it looked kind of complex.

F23 suspension options

So my dad took delivery of a F23 m235 today but I want to get shorter springs with higher spring rate for obvious reasons. I called h&r and they won't have anything for months. I have bmw checking if the coupe and convertible have the same part number for springs , which I highly doubt.
