If M2 approaches 60 grand

If the M2 comes anywhere close to 60 grand I really can't see purchasing one over the Cadillac ATS V. All the videos and reviews of the caddy just make it a no brainer. I did not care for the looks of the standard ATS but the V looks really sweet. It out performs the M3/M4 too.:confused0068:

How do I become a forum Sponsor/Vendor

I can't find a link anywhere on this site to become a vendor / sponsor.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

H&R Springs on stock shocks

Hi everyone.

New to the BMW world. I recently placed an order for a base (non-M Sport but did get the 6spd manual =D) 228i and def wanted to give it a bit of a drop, when it comes in.

Anyone running the H&R Sport springs on the stock shocks with good results? How long have the shocks lasted? Pics?

I realize many are running them on the M-Sport 228i's but those come with more aggressive shocks which, I would imagine, are prob better suited for the H&R Sport springs.

Macht Schnell Wheel Spacers

Macht Schnell Competition Wheel Spacer Kit by PSI

In order to give your BMW a more aggressive stance while increasing handling characteristics, we offer our line of Macht Schnell Competition Spacer Kits.

Machined from 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum, these adapters are strong as well as lightweight to limit unsprung/reciprocating weight for maximum performance on or off the track. Spacer edges are also chamfered to allow for easy installation/removal if needed. After machining, the spacers are then anodized for additional strength, anti-corrosion & wear resistance.

A wider track stance increases lateral stability as well as giving your BMW a more aggressive appearance after installation. Spacers also are used to correct wheel gap normally seen on otherwise stock suspension setups, pushing the wheels outward and filling the fenders.

Included with our Competition Wheel Spacer Kits are a full set of extended lug bolts. All wheel fasteners are hardened and tempered to strength class 10.9 or 10 according to DIN/ISO standard 898 and meet the statutory requirements of all countries - including the US.

Cheating in the NFL has neglible consequences

So I learned that the NFL has decided what penalties to levy against members of the NE Patriots football team in connection with "inflate-gate:"
  • Tom Brady --> four game suspension in 2015
  • NE Patriots -- > $1,000,000
The NFL, last I heard, haven't doled out the penalty to the individual(s) who actually deflated the balls.

Four game suspension and $1M? Really? That's it?

Sure, to individuals who don't measure their net worth in the hundreds of millions or more, even most likely to Tom Brady, $1M is a huge sum. To a $2.6 billion team, it's "chump change," at least when it's the sum levied as a penalty for cheating. After all, for a $2B+ organization/company, $1M is a small enough sum to just count it as part of the cost of doing business. (http://ift.tt/1zUhcvP)

The NFL, Robert Kraft, and Mr. Brady should all be ashamed of themselves!
  • The NFL for tacitly sending the message that if one can afford it, cheating is okay. Also for not, upon discovering the irregularity, having stripped the Patriots of their conference win and denying them the right to play in the Superbowl. There is simply no way the balls, 11 of 12 of them, could have have all been accidentally two pounds under-inflated.
  • Mr. Kraft for establishing a "tone at the top" that fails to create a culture of high enough integrity that nobody in the organization would cheat to advance his organization's fortunes.
  • Mr. Brady for not reporting that there was an irregularity the instant he noticed his grip on the ball was better than it would have been were the balls filled with two pounds more pressure. That man throws footballs for a living; there's no way he couldn't have noticed.
This is a sad day for professional football. It's not sad because there was cheating. Cheating is nothing new and individuals will attempt to cheat if they think they can get away with it. It's sad, because for all intents and purposes, the people who are the stars of the Patriots organization -- the owner and the lead quarterback -- have effectively gotten away with it in spite of it being clear that cheating happened.

All the best.

Why I'm getting a 228i after all

I'm still driving a 2000 323Ci (E46) that I love. Before that I had a 1988 325 (E30) that I still miss. So I thought my next car would be another entry-model 3-series. However, after driving many loaner cars from my BMW dealer over the years, I was disappointed that none of them were as much fun to drive as my 323Ci. It's light, handles really well, has excellent (hydraulic) steering feel, 50-50 balance, and RWD. It's not fast (7.7 sec 0-60 as I recall), having little low-end torque, but in 2nd or 3rd gear with the revs up it is very nimble. It's great at accelerating through curves, and for me that's way more fun than doing stop light sprints.

In 2012 I started looking for a replacement because my car was becoming too unreliable.

When the 2013 FR-S/BRZ came out from Scion/Subaru it went to the top of my list. It was light, low, balanced, with RWD, and praised in car mags for its handling. It's underpowered, but does 0-60 in 7.3 sec which is a little better than my 323Ci. I never test drove one. I've been told that it is noisy/crude compared to a BMW. It's probably acceptable for me, but seems most suited for those on a tight budget who will tune, modify and race, and less suited for comfortable daily use and occasional road trips.

Then along came the 2015 GTI. It looked impressive and was widely praised. It has lots more function, performance, and comfort than the FR-S/BRZ, for not much more money. I joined a few GTI forums and read them a lot. I've never owned a FWD car so I had reservations, but with the optional Perf Pack it has an electronically-controlled front differential that shifts torque to the outside wheel when accelerating through a turn, improving performance and feel. In the limit it will still understeer, being 60-40 balanced, but for a FWD car it looked to be very good. Maybe as good as FWD gets. It will do 0-60 in about 6 sec.

I test drove a GTI (without Perf Pack) and liked it, but the salesman rode with me and that spoiled the ride. I guess he added about 250 lbs, plus he kept demonstrating stuff like the sunroof and how loud the stereo could get. The available roads didn't have much in the way of curves or hills, so I never got a feel for how it goes through curves. It's brakes felt soft – the brake peddle required a lot of travel. Hopefully that is fixable. In Sport mode the Soundaktor made too much noise, but that is easy to disable.

Seeing all the praise for the M235i in the press, I knew that it would be far better than the GTI. However, configured to my liking the GTI would cost $34K whereas the M325i would cost $50K. That additional $16K is hard for me to justify. Most of my driving is going to the store, gym, … for which an M235i would be gross overkill. I decided to test drive a 228i which would only cost $40K. I liked it better than the GTI, plus I was still not sure how happy I would be with the FWD of the GTI "down the road".

So I ordered a 228i M Sport with the Technology Package, Driver Assistance Package (really need to stop backing over neighborhood kids), and Light Package. It was manufactured last week and should be ready for me at the dealership in 2-3 weeks. I can't wait!!!

BTW, I passed on the Premium Package because it had nothing I wanted and cost a lot. The dealer told me that the Premium Package adds “just over 300 lbs” to the weight of the car, which is a lot. He said most of that weight comes from the power seats, followed by the sunroof. Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Does anyone have weight information for the various 2-series options? I can't find any on the web so far. The weight of the car seriously impacts performance and MPG, but maybe car manufacturers don't want that factor to influence the buyer's choice of options.

props to the m235i.

With only 300mi on my m235i it's nice to read the comments regarding the m235i.

If the m2 is as it should be, I'll trade my m235i for one on its second year of production.

Odd nav quirk: dash display arrow perseveres after guidance is stopped

This is odd. The useful nav display on the instrument cluster (not the iDrive screen) continues to show an arrow pointing to the last selected destination for nav guidance even after route guidance has been cancelled and the iDrive controller screen no longer displays nav data. This is a minor nuisance just because the instrument cluster display reverts to the nav arrow even after I cycle to another mode. Maybe getting out of the nav mode altogether (displaying radio, media or another mode) might cancel this out, I will try it. But maybe it persists until the engine is turned off, which would be strange. Can anyone comment? Many thanks.

FS: stock diffuser

I have a stock diffuser for sale, in excellent condition.

Would prefer local pickup but am willing to ship at your expense.

Thanks!

FS: M Performance Rear Diffuser - unpainted

I have an unpainted M Performance rear diffuser for sale. It's only been lightly used and is in excellent condition.

This is a great add-on for your M235, really improves the look of the rear. You can leave it unpainted like I did, or have it painted to match the color of your car.

I am located in Westchester County and would prefer a local pickup but I am willing to ship at your expense.

Let me know if you're interested!

Thanks

M235i standard with LED headlights now?

Sorry did I miss this, I guess so, in the UK I just spec d up an M135i and it had standard LED headlights! LED!

Makes me feel really positive about the M2 getting them at some point, likely the LCI?

I know it's been discussed but I was shocked at this, nipping off to check the M235i has them too, used to be Xenon as standard.

Buying vs leasing?

Would it make sense to buy an ///M235i vs lease for 3 years?

How much would a 2015 ///M235i , msrp $47500 be worth after 36 months ?

30,000 miles = 62% = $29450 residual.

$43,000 sale price
$1500 cap cost reduction
1.9% @ 60 months
7% sales tax
$400 misc fees

= $785 month for 60 months

After 36 months:

Paid $785 x 36 months $28200
Plus down payment $1500

Invested after 3 years $29700.

car worth $29450 after 3 years.
Invested $29700 after 3 years.

3 years payments + down $1500 = $29700

24 more months to payoff car = $785x24= $18840

So if paid 29700 + 18840 = 48540 invested...

48540 invested ....
29450 residual .....

$19090 Cost to use car 3 years

Rocky start but another happy 228i owner!

Car arrived in Baltimore the day of the riots. Thanks to super stalking on Vessel Finder, I was able to see the boat move from one port to the next, I assume to get out of the danger zone. Picked up from dealership Saturday during torrential rains and floods. The XDrive handled it beautifully! Could not drive it at all the rest of the weekend due to threats of hail and tornados.

Had a great commute in the sunshine this morning! I couldn't be happier with this car. XDrive, Sport line, Premium, Tech. VO over Oyster with fine wood trim. The wood trim does not seem popular in this car but I love it. It is much darker than I expected, blends with the black perfectly.

Width: 13 mt.
Longest straight: 674 mt.

About the circuit
Built in 1965 around the existing 24-Hour track, the Le Mans Bugatti Grand Prix race circuit lies 5km south of the city of Le Mans and 200km south-west of Paris. The venue has hosted Grand Prix since the late sixties but a serious accident to Spanish rider Alberto Puig in 1995 saw it struck off the calendar until 2000 whilst stringent safety improvements were carried out.

Le Mans is a tight track dominated by first gear corners that place the emphasis on late braking and hard acceleration, whilst rear end traction is also a key area. With the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 100,000 spectators, the Bugatti circuit also plays host to the 24 hour truck race, the FIA GP2 Championship, French Touring Car and GT races.

FRENCH REVOLUTION
http://ift.tt/1K2lHIh

French riders have enjoyed a record-breaking start to the 2015 World Championship season; can it get better in Le Mans?
French riders have had a great start to the 2015 campaign, and a number of records and milestones have already been achieved in the opening four races of the year:

Rossi not thinking about points situation

Valentino Rossi insists he is not yet thinking about the championship standings despite extending his advantage over Andrea Dovizioso to 15 points at the Spanish Grand Prix.

Rossi maintained his 100% podium record in 2015 - the 200th of his career - after finishing behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo and reigning champion Marc Márquez, while nearest rival Dovizioso managed only ninth after an off-track excursion.

But despite his advantage, Rossi says his focus is on improving his Yamaha after struggling at Jerez.

Show Off Your VMR Wheels!

Hey guys,

Seems like there's quite a few 2addicts on our wheels. Thought it would be a good idea to create a single thread for all those who wanted to share or for those who had any questions on fitment. Fitment is a bit touchy with the F22/F23 so this can also serve as a "what works/what doesn't" type database.

If possible, please be sure to post your :
- Wheel Size/Offset
- Tire Size/Brand
- Suspension Setup
- Camber/Alignment Specs
- Modifications to make fit (if necessary)

We'll start it off with e46m3lol on 18" VMR V703

VMR V703 | Gunmetal
(F) 18x8.5 ET35 | 225/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT
(R) 18x9.5 ET45 | 245/35/18 Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT
H&R springs
No modification to make fit

M235i M-Performance LSD

Hi guys,

I have for sale: The M-Perf LSD for the M135i/M235i (#33107555610). Mounted on my car for 5 months and drove 5000 km/3000 miles with it.

Now for sale 'cause I sold the car. I had it installed at the BMW-dealer and changed it by the dealer again to the open-diff. So no problems at all with the LSD problems and practically new. Paid

The must-have add on the M235i. :) I'm from Europe but price is including shipping worldwide and will ship it double-boxed with some extra care.

Spoiler for Midnight blue 228XI

Need help/advice I have a 2015 228XI in midnight Blue with the sport line option. I just got a 30% off coupon for all BMW accessories so the Carbon M performance rear spoiler would be $385 with free shipping. It seems like an OK deal, however my car has ZERO carbon fiber on it. I don't know if it would look tacky with a carbon spoiler on a Midnight Blue car? Any thoughts? Also When I get home I will attach a photo of my car so you can get a real idea of what MB actually looks like. (Its NOTHING like the website photo.)

Challenger chase results in wrongful arrest (Video and picture proof)

So the guy from Camaro5 is driving along with his dashcam and sees a Challenger fly by. Later he takes a picture of the officer making the arrest but another user on the forum points out the cars are different. OP then goes to the police stating they got the wrong guy but they aren't interested in the evidence.

Video link below. So glad I got a dash cam.

Ps: don't mind the music in the beginning.

It's Here! | Fabspeed's M235i Performance Exhaust Line

Fabspeed's new performance exhaust line is now available for the M235i! As we all know, the factory exhaust on the M235i leaves a lot to be desired, and Fabspeed's Valvetonic Performance Exhaust and downpipe options fill that void perfectly!

The sound of a true M car...
Fabspeed's Valvetronic Performance Exhaust gives the M235i the voice that it deserves, waking up the exhaust note with a wonderfully throaty roar. Full valve functionality allows the driver to unleash the sound at-will, while maintaining the ability to fly under the radar or carry on a conversation under normal driving conditions.

The power to back it up...
Fabspeed Sport Cat Downpipe and Catbypass Downpipe pair perfectly with the Valvetronic Performance Exhaust to offer massive performance gains. For the average performance-minded street driver, the Sport Cat Downpipe - designed with the same 200-cell HJS catalyst that we use in our Ferrari 458 applications - will add an impressive 36 whp and 21 ft/lbs of torque at 3000 RPM. For those less concerned with emissions, Fabspeed also offers the no-holds-barred Catbypass Downpipe, good for an additional 43 whp and 24 ft/lbs of torque at 3000 RPM. Fabspeed's downpipes are designed to work with the OEM exhaust or in conjunction with the Valvetronic Performance exhaust for the ultimate combination of sound and power.

Waterfalls

So I picked up a ND filter with variable stops.. I used stop 8 on majority of my pictures. I've used a tripod ( not a cheap one but not a great one either ) and a 2 second timer. My photos seem to have some shakes in it as it appears not as clear. I need directions on how to get a crisper and less blurry ( not the water affect ) pictures. I am using a kit lens 18-135mm.. maybe I need a better lens?

Thanks for looking.
