Odd nav quirk: dash display arrow perseveres after guidance is stopped

This is odd. The useful nav display on the instrument cluster (not the iDrive screen) continues to show an arrow pointing to the last selected destination for nav guidance even after route guidance has been cancelled and the iDrive controller screen no longer displays nav data. This is a minor nuisance just because the instrument cluster display reverts to the nav arrow even after I cycle to another mode. Maybe getting out of the nav mode altogether (displaying radio, media or another mode) might cancel this out, I will try it. But maybe it persists until the engine is turned off, which would be strange. Can anyone comment? Many thanks.
