Aero lip question

http://ift.tt/1gvGwjR

I test drove this yesterday and am considering getting it this weekend. One major flaw is the lip is trashed and has to be replaced. On mod bargains the lip is going for $305 plus shipping. If you have this mod, I'm just wondering how much did you pay for paint/install? Another was the rear spoiler's clear coat and paint is peeling in places and it's starting to turn green from being out in the sun, which I figure is around $300-350 for a new one.

Any opinions about the price, history, etc. about the car is also appreciated.

TIA

GSR ECU Flash Tune | Review

Hello fellow 2Addicts!

We recently had the opportunity to take one of our Marketing/Project cars to GSR Autosport for their ECU Flash Tune. Our experience working with GSR has been A++ since day one. The entire crew is extremely knowledgeable and have been very professional, really a great group of stand-up guys

A huge part of the appeal of GSR's flash tune has always been its flexibility:
- allows 100 percent of the factory ECU functionality to be retained without the fitment of any aftermarket products
- ability to fine tune specific variables to extract as much peak power as possible
^ With all this considered, we felt that going with the ECU flash tune was naturally the next move in upgrading from our previous piggyback solution.

Driving impressions from Mitchsays21 :
Car feels STRONG. It gave me a smoother powerband and more torque in all the right places. Midrange torque is addictive, turbo lag is nonexistent, and throttle roll-on is linear.
I felt like acceleration was the most significant difference from the previous piggyback tuning solution. My experience with the piggyback included a lot of jerking/hesitation. That only became more apparent after driving the car with the GSR tune.

2014 228i ATX

Mod List (At time of dyno)
- Evolution Racewerks Intake (Protoype)
- Evolution Racewerks Catless Downpipe (NO CEL)
- Ark Performance Catback Exhuast (Prototype)

Overall, the car is just much more fun to drive. Power feels more accessible and without the jerky hesitation. I'm extremely happy with the result and have great peace of mind knowing who's behind the product and work.

If there are any questions about the car and our experience with GSR, feel free to PM or ask here directly

Pic request: Blacked out MW

I'm considering orbit grey wheels, and I like mineral white, but I'm on the fence with the color combo. If I did it, I'd have to get the black grille, mirror caps, and add tint. Anyone have any pics of this setup?

Thanks.

Car Worse After Dealer Service

Hello all, long story short I had my fuel tank, injectors, and hoses replaced. It took three weeks and I expected to get my car back in good shape.

As soon as I got in my car and drove 5 feet it had tons of exhaust drone and sounded significantly louder. I thought maybe its just because I came from a 4cyl loaner...nope.
The car sounds like they cut off the resonator and straight piped it.

I have a video that shows the ticking sound it now makes but it really doesn't show the drone and vibration when I accelerate. ///

https://youtu.be/wvSd0NOvfnk

On top of this I was told the car was clean before I came to pick it up. The car wasn't clean it was hammered dirty. I had to use the windshield wipers to pull out of the service department.
Maybe I'm just upset but I paid a lot of money for repairs and I'm treated poorly and I feel like I'm being pushed around. Oh and gas light was on too.

Okay I'm done:mad0259: let me know what you guys think

Aftermarket parts

Does anyone have a good list of companies for aftermarket parts which may carry over from the M235i to the M2? Things like the hood, trunk and certain engine parts should be the same.

I've been searching for a cf hood and trunk, but I can only find one company that lists just the hood for the F22. Seibon is the company I've found so far.

Let's hear it from you guys, who do you know of that makes carbon fibre parts?

► APEX | APEX Race Parts Wheel Spacer Launch

What features do you look for when you’re shopping for spacers?

► APEX | Our List of Wheel Spacer “Must-Haves”
When approaching the project of creating a wheel spacer that truly meets the needs of the hardcore BMW enthusiast, we took a close look at the features that WE would would want for our personal cars. One of the best things about our team is that we all share an insatiable passion for cars, despite coming from such diverse backgrounds within the automotive culture. We sat around a table and exchanged stories, both horrific and terrific, about past experiences we had with wheel spacers and came up with our list of “must-haves” when we created our line of new spacers.

Our List of Wheel Spacer “Must-Haves”

1. Perfect “Under-the-Wheel-Well” Fitment
Every day, we field questions about fitment that an enthusiast might have in their pursuit to optimize their wheel and tire setup to fit their needs while still working with their 1) suspension components, 2) OEM or aftermarket brake setups or 3) car’s fenders and body limitations.

Understanding that all 3 components have an effect on final wheel and tire size, we realized that in order to meet the needs of someone who is trying to push the limits of what their car can handle, we needed to make spacers in small increments of widths. Intervals of 5 millimeters just didn’t cut it for us.

You might be trying to fill you fenders chock-full of tire or precisely space out your wheel to sit flush with your fenders; everyone has different needs and uses for spacers. Here are 3 reasons that one might want to add spacers to their setup under the wheel well.
1. Fine-Tunable Suspension Clearance
Even after you’ve done everything you can to modify your coilovers to allow for wider wheels and tires, adequate wheel/tire clearance can still be hard to achieve. With 6 sizes ranging from 3mm to 20mm, APEX wheel spacers allow you to dial in the exact internal suspension clearance you need.

2. Ample Brake Caliper Clearance
Just like the relationship between wheel/tire-to-suspension components, brake calipers and spokes are often a point of unwanted interference. APEX spacers allow you to achieve just enough caliper clearance to allow your wheel to spin freely without pushing you wheel out too far.

3. Perfect Wheel-to-Fender Gap
Ample tire-to-fender clearance is a good thing, but excessive gap just doesn’t look right. Get your wheels flush with your fenders using APEX wheel spacers. Our range of widths allow you to precisely dial in your fitment.

2. Easily Removable Spacers
Save yourself from the headache. If you’ve owned spacers before, you’ve likely had one seized onto the hub. Instead of using a mallet to free it, utilize a tool meant for removal— a pry bar or screwdriver. We’ve added machine-cut pry points around the spacer’s edge, making even the most seized spacers a breeze to remove.

3. Rotor-Matching Colors
You’ve worked hard on the color scheme and coordination of your car and modifications. Spacers should not be any exception. They are meant to push wheels out, not stand out on their own. Available in two finishes— Black and Silver. Pick the one that complements your ride.

4. Precise, Refined Construction
For us, safety is paramount and to create a reliable, trustworthy spacer and relationship with our customer. We're passionate about racing, and would accept nothing less for ourselves. Without question we had to utilize the best materials and employ military-grade construction methods. We ended up with a CNC machined, 6061-T6 Aluminum spacer with carefully chamfered edges, eliminated stress-risers, and appropriately lightweight design without sacrificing rigidity or surface area.

5. Easily Identifiable
Remember trying to solve mystery of identifying spacers either on the car or as they sit loose inside of our tool boxes or parts pins? We do too. What started as scrawling numbers with a screwdriver evolved into clean, legible, laser-engraved size and measurement information on the spacer face and edges.

6. OEM-Spec
Manufactured to perfectly match the measurements and tolerances of your BMW, these spacers are a natural extension of your wheel hub. Cheap, hastily-made spacers are infamous for their sloppy construction, uneven surfaces, and out-of-round shape and result in poor fit & unsafe vibrations.

7. Vibration Free
At the end of the day, spacers are useless if they vibrate. We’re so confident that if our spacers cause any sort of vibrations or shakes, we’ll replace them. Simple as that.

Will These Fit My M235i?!

I really love the Avant Garde M359 design and I have seen the 18's on the M235i, but I would really like to get the 19X9.0's if they fit! I believe they have an offset of ET35. Also I am lowered on H&R's at the momen5t so I do know that may reduce clearance. They also have another variant of the 19X9.0 but the offset is ET18 and I am wondering what that would do to its look. Can anyone give me some answers? :confused2

Now that the color choices are confirmed...

In which color do you plan on ordering your M2?

One thing I've found strange is that there have been test mules in what looks like Melbourne Red, but that is apparently not one of the approved colors.

1st BMW 1st Service

My first BMW and I'm bringing it in for its first service in a couple of weeks, just under 6000km after 1 year.
Scratch 1 of my rims against the kerb a few weeks back, called them up since I have rim + tire protection, but they say that it doesn't cover scratches and bruises, they'll have a look at it anyway when I bring it in for my service. Any suggestion on how I can get them to replace or repair it for me ?

Also, what can I expect from my service ? What can I get them to change under their service programme, it's not the free service, I paid in advance for a 5 year service and maintainence plan. Changing the wipers etc etc ?

Any advice will be much appreciated :)

Disaster..... Paint protection job

Ok a few weeks ago I had paint protect applied to my new M235i. It looked great but on closer inspection I found the back/ boot lid below the rear spoiler was pickled with tiny dots
Today I returned it to have it corrected that was when my day turned to s#%£

They cut it back and buffed through the paint. What a disaster now I have to have the complete boot lid re sprayed. They did offer to pay for it but that's not the point.
ATM I prefer not to say where this happened. I need this resolved
Actually makes me feel like getting rid of my car it's only got 1200 kms on it- 3 weeks old

BMW M2 Coupe is a BMW 1M evolution in a new jacket

The last few days I have started to question all the information that has been released so far. Last night I sad down and read most of the latest news and topics on this forum about the new BMW M2 Coupe we are all waiting for so desperately.

I loved the people asking for sunroofs, parking sensors at the front and even a convertible version of the M2. They clearly do not have a clue what the M2 is or what it will be.

I felt that I should start to ask around at dealerships across Europe and cross check information. In the end after reading all the information something did not tick the correct boxes.

After a few days of hearing information from different sides, some things are falling into the right order now. And looking at what we have seen so far being shared on this forum I felt like writing this story.

The overall feeling I have is that we are looking at a BMW 1M package in a newly updated jacket, which in my opinion is what I wanted and we should all cheer about. The M4 is too big... It feels like a mini-M5. I want a E46 M3 sized power coupe with better handling. It needs to be in balance, like the 1M was and is. A balance between power and handling. The current M4 feels like a muscle car (sorry my intention is not to upset owners here), but that is what I felt after driving it for four weeks.

So what are I my initial thoughts...

1. The spec list shared in the past days looks real and features not much options, similar to the 1M.
2. Four colors, similar to the 1M
3. Interior set up (one type of seats and contrasting stitching) & color of stitching fits the communication color which will be LBB, similar to the 1M
4. Performance wise a bit more than the 1M, but with the boost function on the torque. Focus on handling and the right balance between power and handling, similar to the 1M.
5. Mixing the best from the M3/M4 range and the 2-Series Coupe, similar to the 1M.
6. Minimizing options to keep the weight down, focus on handling and sheer driving pleasure like the 1M

Information I gathered so far by simply searching and connecting dots...

1. The car will NOT be released at IAA.
Reason why? Quite simple... They have a tonne of other cars to show (public and European debuts of X1, 7-Series, 3-Series LCI, etc) and the M4 GTS is first at Pebble Beach (maybe it is also at IAA)! Two M releases to close to each other or even at one show is not feasible. So it is definitely not IAA, what can it be? Any guesses?

2. The first deliveries start in the Spring
People on the forum here have said deliveries start in the Spring. That would mean after the 20th of March. That is late March, early April. I got a production slot offered for March, but I have been told that could well be a bit later. So I tend to believe that early deliveries (demo cars and the happy few) might get the car in March and that the rest will get their car when production is full up and running in the Spring. What about this production date in the BMW system saying they would start in November? False info, dummy content in the computer, mistake by BMW, who knows, but it feels like a failure. It does not fit with what I heard and read.

3. Price tag
The 1M starting price was around 50-51 EUR in Germany. Looking at the competitors in the market space, like A45 and RS3, pricing for the new M2 might be slightly higher depending if your country sells fully specced cars or not. What I have seen so far is that certain countries offer fully specced M cars with not much room to remove or add options from the car, and other countries offer basic cars where you can add whatever you want. It really depends on your country. European countries more east offer more basic cars simply because the M car is already expensive in a base set up and they want to have the option to sell. Countries more west offer fully set up cars at a high price and with a ridiculous high premium.

So now let's discuss the dots even further. So what are we looking at? I feel we are looking at BMW 1M evolution in a new jacket and with even more improved handling and driving capabilities. I would just take every single aspect from the 1M, improve it and you have the M2. Just follow every single part of the 1M strategy and copy it to the M2. Of course there will be minor differences like the availability of an automatic gearbox, but I feel that overall the setup will be similar. It is a common practice with car brands lately. They take what worked before, improve it slightly and sell it in a new package. The M2 will not be any different in the general sense.

If we keep this in the back of our minds then the final release whenever it will be the next few months will not be such a downfall for some of you. Just see it as the next 1M and all that comes with it. At my side I would love to have a specific individual color, but it is not possible, so I will wrap it if I want to. Surround cameras would help me a lot on the on ramp in my garage, but it is not there I will drive up backwards. I can deal with... because I know that every corner I take with the M2 will be the ultimate M fest. :D

Do you feel the same way about this or am I wrong? If you have any more information please feel free to add it here and we come up with one story that kills all the rumors.

Extend regional sections to other subforums or sub domain sites

On e90post, the regional sections have UK specific sub-forums, eg UK tech, OT and classifieds. However, that wasn't extended to the other sub-domain sites, eg f80.bimmerpost.

Can this be done, specifically for the classifieds, or better yet, add region tags in the classifieds sections thread listing?

While the location stuff seems to be in beta, if it's not mandatory to put that information in, or it's not viewable in the thread listings, it becomes useless. With an additional tag, you'll be able to see in the thread list where something is being sold.

For example, as a test, I used 60606, which is a ZIP for the loop area in Chicago. No threads popped up. If I extend the search to 10 miles, I get some hits, which the ZIP alone should have provided.

I also used my postcode in London and extended the search to 500 miles, which will basically cover the entirety of England, and nada. That means either no one in the UK is using these sub-forums, or that functionality for non-US addresses doesn't work.

Either way, a visual representation on the thread list would work nicely as is done in other forums.

Strange High Beam Assist behavior

I have 2 cars now with high beam assist - the M235i and the Golf R mk7 - and sadly, the BMW's one cannot even compare to the VW's. Additionally, after some 7,000 km it started behaving even stranger, like:

- turning full high beams on very late, i.e. several seconds after passing another source of light that the system thinks is a car whose driver shouldn't get dazzled

- even with no other car around, the BMW system reacts to the presence of random objects (such as those traffic info tables covered with glaring paint) too easily and unnecessarily, creating patches of unlit areas on the road (and for much too long after I already passed such an object), which can be dangerous of a cyclist or marching person happens to be present in such spot of unlit road

Am I alone with this problem, or do all M235i behave the same in this respect? Should I take my car in? I hate the very idea of those incompetent people at my Dealer trying to re-create the condition and diagnose the source of problem - but on the other hand I know from my Golf R experience this is no rocket science, and high beam assist can work properly and spot on at each time...

Question about battery tenders

Been lurking for a bit, with an occasional post here and there. This past January I took delivery of an alpine white M235. Loving the car.

Because I don't drive the 235 all the time, I purchased a battery tender. So where am I suppose to connect the terminals of the tender? The gap between the two battery tender alligator clamps is not large enough to reach the positive and negative terminals under the hood of the car. So, is it safe to connect the tender directly to the battery located in the trunk of the car?

I have the same question regarding an air compressor. I would like to purchase a small compressor for the car (to fix flats or adjust tire pressures while on the road). There are two options. A compressor which connects directly to the cig lighter (provided the cig lighter can handle the amperage), or connect directly to the battery in the trunk.

Taking a stance? U.S pricing vs AUS

I want to put this out and wouldn't mind others opinions and thoughts on this. I've been following the M2 and it seems US will pay about 50K and to step up to M3 it's about another 10K. I was getting annoyed when I kept bitching about M2 not getting M seats, CF roof etc etc the U.S. Guys would say get go get the M3 if you want all that and BMW needs to keep the price low. Easy for them to say that because it's 10K difference.

The M2 is getting:
No bespoke engine
No M seats
No CF roof

It's 50K US and maybe 100K AUS

U.S guys are happy to accept the limited bits because they understand it's a cost thing otherwise it starts getting into the range of what a US base stripper M3 is. 10k difference. What do you get for that 10k even on a base M3? You at least get access to the main bits - bespoke engine, M seats, CF roof and more! Such good value compared to us right?

Now when you compare to AUS to get these extra bits your looking at 70K+ WTF!!! No such thing as a base stripper version. Even if there was I reckon your still looking at 40-50K more perhaps?

So where is the fundamental problem here? It's BMW Germany? BMW Australia and the individuals stealing from us? We get ripped off because those who cannot afford the M3 look at entry level M for something like M2 and it gets held back on its value in comparison to U.S

Am I missing something here. I understand wages are different and all and the average wage might be different but it can't equate to this much surely? The gap between M2 and M3 needs to either reduce significantly or both prices of each need to come down and this applies not just to BMW but all German cars.

Anything that can be done ? Is it just were being taken for a ride and as long as everyone sits back and just cops it nothing will change?? I feel like this needs to be on the news with huge public backing? Is it possible?

Guy takes 3 years off and travels the world

I thought this was pretty awesome. Every time I see stuff like this I get so jealous! If you really think about it a lot of us could totally travel more but we don't for whatever reason, besides money. There is so much to see out there, Bravo to this gentlemen

When wifey sleeps in the same bed with you

( this is what I found online and ....wow...speechless )

I have to admit...sound's logical to me...

Here's the story:

To those of you that thought this could be an inspiring bed time story post, sorry guy's nothing sexual will go down here, allthough hopefull and still inspiring.
As it is ment for food for thought!

Ever thought about what kind of a real bomb shell your wifey is?
Of course you did...perfect hair, great done finger nail's, perfect make up.

Well the last could be arguable but the fact that your wife is a bomb shell, not at all.
Sound's great right...and what would you say when I tell you, that what's been stated can be taken literally?

Okay, let me brake it down for you:

By all the chemical's that are used as ingredient's in hair softener's, make up, finger nail colors up to body lotions and to come to an end body oil's that get your wife's soft skin ( also arguable ), your wife LITERALLY turn's into an
CHEMICAL- bomb shell...

Thing's can get very bad and once you realise waking up, having no drive, your eye's hurting, are swollen, your nose is clocked...and you feel uncomfortable the whole time? ...You'd say to yourself...god this must be a burnout...I'm work to much and exactly that is the down spiral and the route you definately don't want to go down with!

Do yourself a favour, once you develope these strange health issues and you run from one doctor to the other, JUST talk a few line's with you lady.
Get her to show you the shit she put's in her face in the morning, shit she slaps on her fingernail's every two days, the shit she smear's her body in and plain and simple google the ingredient's.
Google the damn ingredient's!

To sum it up and keep it short:

Many of that chemical B.S. in your wife's beauty pocket is highly allergic and it can seriously damage alot regarding your body.

It's like you get harmed and can't protect yourself as you get ill, doctor's are clueless and you are close to freaking loosing your mind.
Your respiratory organ's can be ffected due to allergical reaction's.

Allergic reaction could cause long term chronical illnesses like sinus, wich a few symptom's are tinnitus, sleep disorder, concentration issue's, PAIN...neck pain, heart irregularitie's...google the rest.

Basically this can KILL you over time and the funny part is on top of it:

No one get's it until wether you decide to end all this or it happen's by natural cause due to over stressing your system.

Take this here just as an attempt to revive the consciousness of the chemical-user's and their innocent victim's.

Thank you.

So who is on Windows 10?

Force downloaded it yesterday to my Dell tablet overwriting Windows 8.1
Its definitely seems like a big improvement over crappy 8.1
Time will tell but it might actually be a winner.

La Ferrari at Ferrari of San Diego (Lajolla)

Saw this last night. It was late, and they were already closed. Doubt it's for sale, probably a factory delivery to some lucky guy :)

In the flesh the car is just mesmerizing! No other words exist to describe it !!!

M235i convertible "Build your own" BMW USA.com

I'm aiming to order one of these early into 2016 and have recently built many variants on the configurator. Now since July when building combinations I want...the configurator shuts me down and automatically defaults to black interior (when I select a trim or interior color).

The 2 color combos I have built before in the past months were Sapphire Black with Oyster and fineline wood trim. Also have built Mineral white with Oyster and fineline wood trim. These are the only two color combos I want.

I've seen both these combos in real life. I don't get it:confused2.

When I order I hope there is a way in the world that I can simply get one of these combos.

Anyone know why the configurator won't allow color combos??? It's very generic with this auto defalt to interior colors/trims I Don't want.

Hopefully I can get an order in the way I would like.
