I learned quite many things about my car from this forum. However as I am not intending to do everything myself (especially those done under the car), it seems I am not having a comfortable time dealing with indi shops near where I live. Frustrations I ve had:
Most indi shops refuse to use parts that I provided, despite everything I got from legit sources such as Tischer. One shop does use me parts, but refuses to provide any warranty, makes me skeptical about the quality of such work.
Information. Once when I made a comment about a problem, the shop owner said to a mechanic: where did he get all these? must be from the internet. Sounds as if I was doing something I shouldn't. Meanwhile they recommand products and services I am not sure about.
Trust. I have the nice DIY guides here and a brick of a book that is the Bentley Manual, natually I d hope all work to be done strickly following these sequence of work, torque spec, etc. Without being allow to get into the garage, I don't know how to build trust.
Perhaps I need to work on my people skills. I actually find it easier to deal with dealers, despite all their nonsense they usually appears concerned, and I just need to work hard to find that other dealer with lowest price and match it.
