CAR: 2006 e90 325xi Automatic Trans( 6 Speed Tiptronic[sp?])
I started having issues with my transmission around 110,000 miles. At the time I thought Lifetime transmission meant Lifetime. Obviously thats not the case! The car was hesitating getting into first slightly, almost like it caught a millisecond to late. It has progressively got worse and now I am at 132,000 miles with rough/jerky shifting in 1st and 2nd and I have that slight hesitation sometimes in higher gears. Sometimes when the car is at a stoplight or such it will kick into gear for a second and jolt me forward, but not really move to far. What should I do. What I waited to long and now my car has imminent failure on the way? Never had any trans service dont since I bought it at 60,000 miles, but unsure of the previous owners service record. They also had 100,000 mile warranty so I assume they kept the car up to date with maintenance.
This is currently my thought, I can follow a DIY and replace the fluid as well as whatever else the guide recommends with this procedure. I just had a baby and things are defiantly tight money wise, so I can afford to buy a kit but if my car has a trans failure on the way I need to get rid of it. The second option people has told me about and thats adding Lucas Transmission Fix with ATF Conditioner. I heard its not permanent but it will help for a few thousand miles. Maybe use that to fix it up till I sell it. I need some help with explaining what I should do and what exactly is going on. Please elaborate on the Lucas Transmission Fix with ATF Conditioner and installation. Also provide links to DIY if possible. Thanks a million! This is more of an opinion based question so I understand how to search but I didnt find anything that fit my problem exactly.
Now here's the other problem. Whenever I hit a pothole, and even small bump in the road, it feels like my cars going to crack in half. It is like hitting a curb. What could be causing this? It literly feels like im gonna get a flat because the cars bottoming out or something. I'm assuming it can be the shocks but how can I tell and what do these symtoms sound like. There are no codes that are showing related to suspension and I know nothing about them or where to start, I would like to get a good idea of whats going on with my car so maybe I can do it myself or at least be educated when shopping garages in my area. PM's are welcome in the Central New Jersey area if anyone is a mechanic with BMW exp. looking to help with the installation or complete it. Shops or Private. If thats against the rules then Please let me know.
