Car came w/ staggered 398 wheels 18x8 et 34 in front on 225/45 tires and 18x8.5 et47 in rear on 255/40. Original plan was to use these same wheels w/ a set of Blizzak WS80 tires 225/45/18 all around. However, TireRack is showing that I can also use 215/55/17 tires which is .34" taller. Narrower tire we all know is better through the snow. This 17" set up is also about $140 cheaper.
So in looking for 17" wheels, I'm finding many sets for $150-$250 from E36's and E46's. Which is the ideal or acceptable offsets? I'm thinking et34-et38 should be good? Many sellers don't know the offset of the wheels they're selling, just that they came off a specific vehicle. Where can I find what the original wheel offsets were say on an e36 M3, e36 328i or e46 325ci? I also found a set from an e60 530xi that has an et43, would that work?
