E92 M3 Dual Purpose Track/DD Car Project

I would like to share my mods for the car in hope that i can get advise from professionals and members here or help other m3 owners if they decide to mod their car.

I purchased my Silverstone E92 M3 last July and started going to track as of last August. For first 6 months on track, I just drove the car very close to stock except tire, lightweight wheels, and race pads with ss lines. However, as i progressed, i felt the needs for modification. My goal was not to build a track car, but to build car which can perform well on the track, while it is still compromising to drive daily.

Here's the mods that I've upgraded since I purchased the car, and i will continue my mod stories with pictures.

The modifications on the car as of 12/25/2014 (In order)

Apex Arc-8 18x10" Wheels + 275/35/18 Hankook RS-3 Tires or 285/30/18 AD08R

Apex Wheel Spacers - 5mm on front & 12mm on rear

Volshlag Wheel Stud conversion Kit

KW Clubsport Coilovers (2 ways)

Stoptech Big Brake Kit - ST60 on front & ST40 on rear with SR34 Pads.

Dinan Free Flow Exhaust

Macht Schnell Test Pipe with OEM X pipe

AFE Stage 2 Intake

Gintani ECU tune

APR GT 250 61" Wing

Akrym Aero Force Front Bumper

APR E9x M3 Nose Splitter

March: The first mods that I wanted was to improve cornering abilities. I've decided to install aftermarket coilovers and spacers, which was discussed with lots of M shop professionals. With my limited budget, I ended up getting KW Clubsport, which was specifically designed and tested for E9x M3 by KW. I was very hesitating to make a decision between Ohlins Road & Track and KW Clubsport, but I am glad that i got KW Clubsport (I had a chance to drive my friend's car with Ohlin's RT, and I felt much planted and less roll from KW CS equipped car compared to Ohlin's RT). I wish i could have got JRZ Pro or MCS 2 Ways with external resovior, but those are too expensive. In addition to coilovers, i installed spacers and studs. Spacers were installed in the reason of better stability due to wider track (which i am not sure whether it works or not as it was put on tgt with coilvers).

May: The next mods that I've installed on my car is the big brake kit. This was the upgrade that I've anticipated after i started running my car on the track. Even with the race pads/very high dry temp brake fluid/SS line upgrade that I did after first track day, my car was fading after 3-4 hot laps if the track temp is above 75. I went with Stoptech for lowest replacement cost + good price for new kit, and I am so happy with how it performed last weekend at willow springs raceway.

December: I've decided to add more aerodynamics on the car for high speed cornering as the car tends to oversteer on high speed corners (90+ mph). I spun out so many times, which led me to add a bit more stability on the car. For rear down force, I decided to go with APR GT-250 61" wing, for easy removal (which only requires 6 bolts removal), and flat bottom front bumper with custom front wind splitter (which will extend 5" from the bumper). However, due to delay of Tegris board, I've decided to put on a nose splitter that my friend gave it to me after he upgraded to proper sized front splitter. I've done all the work myself with big help from one of my friend, and it came out so nice. I just came back from Buttonwillow, and the difference in lap time between with wing and without wing was about 1 seconds, but i am quite sure I can carry much more speed on the track with the wing.

I hope you enjoyed reading my post, and i appreciate Racewerkz Engineering for setting up my car properly since the day#1 I started mod my car.

and the following is the list of mods that i am debating for future. If you want to share your opinion on those mods for dd/track dual purpose, please don't hesitate. Thank you.

1. RD Sport Sway Bar

2. Bucket Seat with OEM belt (with sliders) (no roll bar and harness). I want to maintain the rear seats.
