Have a Passport 9500xi and have been using the cigarette lighter. As socket stays hot after I turn car off I used to power down the detector. Noticed recently that if not turned off it goes out on its own after about 10 minutes if car is locked so I started doing that. Today the charger would not do anything. Have an old charger that works. Not sure if old charger dying was a result of being old or because I left unit on with car off. Anyone else know if leaving detector on when car is off is safe.
FYI I'm aware that you can hardwire into mirror but my car is a lease and don't want to deal with it.
