Mods and admins-hypocrisy in thread moderation?

Far be it for me to really care...but I question the reasoning behind a deletion of a thread instead of locking, moving and/or cleaning it up.

...still exists, and still in the wrong forum realistically.

So...what gives? I would expect more consistency, in particular without coming across as biased.
