What the hell is this?

So.. My music or any sound didnt work so i bought the parts and stuff blah blah, i got the conncector and i was trying to plug it in and i see THIS. Did something fucking chew on my fiber optic cable??? Isn't supposed to light up red, both of them so they can contiinue the loop or whatever??? How would i ever fix this? Any help would be great.

Mid thread upload update, the one on the left turns red when i put the ignition on for a few second turns off.
