Been here 2.5 weeks, finally saw another one! A 220i convertible outside Milan, Netherlands plates. With the convertible on display at the Welt, that makes two. In 3200 miles all over the place. Plenty of 2-series Active Tourers though - if I had to buy a minivan... And of course, the 1-series hatches are ubiquitous. Only seen a single 1-series coupe though.
I'm not sure my Estoril Blue M235i would attract any more attention if it was a red Ferrari. Every stop ends up with at least a couple people walking around it and looking. And a couple of Italian boys in a Subaru BRZ slowed down to give me a once over outside Genoa this morning. I, of course, just had to give them a very clear but rapidly receding view of my taillights up a long grade on the Autostrada. :D Hardly fair, that one...
Good drive today - Genoa to Mulhouse France, right across Switzerland. Beautiful. Though Switzerland is the speed trap of Europe, and has speed limits that are low even by US standards. And ~$50 for the toll sticker to get me across. Good for the year, but I'm not going back! Though Italy loves their toll money too - I spent about $100 in tolls to go from Austria-Bologna-Rome-Naples-Genoa-Milan-Switzerland with various side trips. High point of the trip was a guided tour of Herculeanum,
Heading to Paris from here, drop the car for shipment on Friday, fly home Saturday.
