Hi all,
Not a question, but help for any other Android users who stumble into this BMW/Apple heavy world, and miss this feature I just discovered.... if you have a BMW after Dec 2013, it integrates to Apple Siri and Google Now via a long press of the speak command button - this directs all voice conversations to your phone via Bluetooth.
I have a Samsung S4, and this comes stock with Samsung S-voice which is ok (and the BMW software is designed to work with S-voice in 2014), but if you change the Samsung S4 (or S3, S5, etc) to work with google now, its actually very useful for commands such as...
"send sms to wife saying I will be there in 10 minutes"
"how long will it take to fly from london to new york"
"remind me to pick up milk when I get to sainsburys supermarket in basingstoke"
"set an alarm for 10am tomorrow morning" etc
It works so well that I had a conversation with my car this evening...
(long press of the speak button)
Me: "text my wife Please can you pick up some milk on the way home"
Car: "your wife has 3 numbers (it showed them on screen), which number do you want to text?"
Me: (without having to press the button again) "Mobile"
Car: "Do you want to send a text to (my wifes name) mobile saying Please can you pick up some milk on the way home?"
Me: (without having to press the button again) "yes"
Car: "Text sent"
and the music started playing again - wonderful.
If you (like me) have a samsung phone, the method to get google now instead of the s-voice (which may work equally well) is in this thread....

Got to say, I may have problems getting text and emails alert on my car, but this is one rocking feature.
