I might be being paranoid, but I'm beginning to think my turbo could be on it's way out. The car (325D M57) has just ticked over 102k, but went up to 22k between oil changes as the previous owner obviously went by the OBC servicing schedule. When driving with the window down I can hear the turbo hissing more than what I would consider normal. It's definitely a hiss and not a whistle, so maybe there could be an air leak?
I was under the bonnet last night and though I'd have a quick look, and it seems like there is oil on the turbo as you look at it from the front. I'll try and update with a photo soon, but I know oil on the turbo is bad news.
Does it sound like it might be on it's way out? Turbo failure doesn't seem common on these after a quick google, so does anyone have any experience with this or know how much it costs to replace?
