Oil temperature gauge

During my daily commute of approximately 6-7 miles the needle on the oil temp gauge hardly moves off the stop on average the journey takes 15-20 minutes of mostly dual carriageway driving, drive a bit further and the needle will move to about mid point between the 75oC lowest value and the 120oC mid point, however on longer trips such as Monday when I drove to Glasgow which was a 35 mile trip on dual carriageway A77 / M77 motorway and M8 the needle was sitting just slightly past the 120oC mid point. Handbook says this is normal? Seems a high oil temp on a late Autum day ambient 8oC and with the car cruising most of the time at 70 in Eco pro and in cruise control and total journey time of 40minutes?

Oil level is correct and the car is running as expected of a BMW so it's probably just me being old and over thinking matters
