F32 420D - very happy with MPG during run up to scotland

So took my F32 420D up for a nice long run-in drive up to Scotland – it started off with 732 miles on the clock, and returned with 1946 – not bad for a long weekend.

Journey up and down was in Eco mode…

Journey up was in ECO blue mode, with cruise control set at 77mph pretty much all the way with once exception of a speed test. Averaged 51.4MPG – so very happy with that.

On the return journey, again all in ECO mode, but in manual driving between 75 and 80mph on motorways (60mph for the 60 miles or so of non motorway road) – hit an average of 52.9MPG – so just a touch better – but then no speed test that way.

Both trips I used the M6 toll. On the way up, I found myself on an almost deserted area of the M6toll, and could not help myself – into sport, gear box to the left, and floored it. The car jumped (that’s the word to describe it) from its 80mph upto…. well…. An interesting number before wife beside me made noises and I calmed it down back to cruise speed.

All in all, a nice run, car now run in, and very happy on my MPG numbers (better than her TT, and much better than my last car (Volvo C70)) so I am very happy with that.
